Narrow jobsite quantity calculator
Concrete Bollard Footing Calculator
Calculate the concrete quantity for specified cylindrical bollard footings while deducting the volume occupied by the embedded bollard.
Calculate concrete bollard footing quantities
Use this calculator after the bollard footing dimensions have been specified. It calculates the gross cylindrical footing, subtracts the embedded bollard displacement, multiplies by the number of identical bollards and applies only the allowance you enter.
Formula: Net concrete = [π × (hole diameter ÷ 2)² × concrete depth − π × (bollard OD ÷ 2)² × embedded length] × bollard count.
Useful for bollard footing concrete volume, bollard post concrete cubic yards and multiple-bollard concrete takeoffs.
Step 1
Enter project dimensions
Use dimensions from the applicable drawing, specification or field takeoff. Switch between US / Imperial and metric at any time; entered dimensions are converted automatically.
Step 2
Quantity result
Use project-specified geometry and material requirements. Allowance is shown explicitly rather than hidden inside the dimensions.
Worked example
The example uses the calculator's starting dimensions so the arithmetic can be checked independently.
Example inputs
| Identical bollards | 6 count |
|---|---|
| Footing / hole diameter | 2 ft |
| Concrete-filled depth | 3.5 ft |
| Bollard outside diameter | 0.5 ft |
| Bollard length within concrete | 3 ft |
| Concrete allowance | 5 % |
Example results
| Concrete to order | 2.428 yd³ |
|---|---|
| Net geometric concrete | 2.313 yd³ |
| Gross footing volume | 2.443 yd³ |
| Bollard displacement | 0.131 yd³ |
How the calculation works
Net concrete = [π × (hole diameter ÷ 2)² × concrete depth − π × (bollard OD ÷ 2)² × embedded length] × bollard count.
FHWA Federal Lands standard drawings include bollards within Section 619. Footing diameter, depth, bollard type, reinforcement and impact-resistance requirements remain project-specific design inputs; this calculator only converts supplied geometry into quantity.

Scope: verify dimensions, material specifications, structural/electrical requirements, reinforcement, excavation support and local requirements independently. JobsiteMeasure estimates quantities; it does not design the installation.
Concrete Bollard Footing Calculator FAQs
How much concrete does a bollard footing need?
Once the specified hole diameter and concrete depth are known, calculate the cylindrical footing volume and subtract the bollard volume within the concrete.
Does this calculator determine footing diameter or depth?
No. Bollard footing dimensions depend on the system, loading, site and project requirements. Enter dimensions from the approved detail or specification.
Why subtract the bollard?
The embedded bollard occupies part of the footing, so that physical volume cannot also contain concrete.
